After been operating for more than thirty years, the Menora Tunnel is no longer able to accommodate the growing amount of traffic. It is also one of the accident-prone areas on the North-South Highway which is often a major cause of traffic congestion, especially during peak hours and seasons. WISE can be seen as a form of a long-term solution that will be an alternative route to improve and redistribute traffic flow from the north and south towards the Menorah Tunnel. This in turn contributes to the smooth flow of traffic on the North-South Expressway and enables the North-South Expressway to operate with more effective traffic capacity.
